About Lady Laraine

"I have been singing for as long as I can remember. Grandma called me her “little canary.” I sang my first solo at age 7 in church and ever since I have been a lover of all kinds of music. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas where I got my first taste of country music and performed as a “walk-on” talent with a few country bands. I was introduced to jazz ensembles in high school and two of my singing mentors became Julie Andrews and Barbara Streisand. At the College of Fine Arts at the University of Texas in Austin I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music with a Principal in Voice. It was at UT that I began singing sacred, classical and contemporary choral music. I have been a member of the St. Austin’s Traditional Choir at St. Austin’s Catholic Church in Austin for 25 years singing beautiful sacred music. Swing and Big Band Jazz era music recently has pulled me into its easy going and fun style. I am inspired by the greats: Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holiday, Carmen McRae, and Sara Vaughan, to name a few. I perform professionally as Lady Laraine for private parties and events. I thank you for visiting the website and hope to soon be singing for one of your private events!”
